Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 cup almonds slivered
  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, cooking until soft.
  3. Add the ground chicken, cumin, cinnamon, paprika, and cayenne; cook until the chicken is no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the chopped parsley and slivered almonds. Remove from heat.
  5. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
  6. Cut the phyllo in half lengthwise. Spoon a small amount of the chicken mixture at the end of each strip, fold over to form a triangle, and continue folding until you reach the end. Brush the edges with butter to seal.
  7. Place the briouats on a baking sheet and brush with more melted butter.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add dried fruits such as raisins or apricots to the filling.
  • These can be frozen before baking for a quick appetizer later.
