  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla and almond extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Pour the cherry pie filling over the batter, and then drop spoonfuls of remaining batter on top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until lightly golden and set.
  8. Allow to cool before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
