This creamy and cheesy baked mac and cheese features a delightful twist with turkey bacon, making it a perfect comfort food dish.

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, black pepper, and salt to the sauce.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the cheeses until melted and smooth.
  7. Add the cooked macaroni and turkey bacon to the cheese sauce, stirring to combine.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, top with additional cheese before baking.
  • Feel free to substitute regular bacon for turkey bacon if desired.
